The redefinition of the Museum of the Acropolis of Byrsa brings clarity to its multilayered composition, aligning architecture, landscape, and archaeology within a structured whole. A new public square reorganizes the site, opening the monastery’s courtyard to the public and establishing it as the heart of the project. The new building reinterprets the site’s fragmented past—its "frontone" enshrines displaced ruins once scattered across the courtyard, transforming them into a lasting architectural gesture.

The Istrski Kulturni Center is conceived as a sequence of spaces that mediate between the city and the sea. A series of distinct volumes—each with a defined function—anchor the building within its urban and natural context, framing views, passages, and encounters. A technical backbone connects them, ensuring smooth circulation. A place not of imposition, but of invitation where culture is produced, exchanged, and lived.

A quiet presence within the park, the kiosk leans toward the Maillard Pavilion, acknowledging its place in time. Its roof, a fragment of nature, rises above the city—untouched, sustaining unseen life.
Below, the mirrored canopy reflects the shifting life of the square, drawing passersby into its play of movement and light.
